Electronic structure calculations in solids, superconductivity, lattice
dynamics, microscopical studies of spectral properties of solids.
The main results
include the detailed microscopical investigations of optical and EELS
spectra in many metals and metallic compounds, the comprehensive analysis
of optical features in the infrared spectral region, a new formulation of
the lattice dynamics in terms of microscopical stresses and electronic
displacements, the analysis of the dielectric gap problem in the density
functional theory, ab initio studies of magneto-optical spectra of magnetic
materials, the existance criterion for the 90 degree polar Kerr rotation,
the design of high-reflectivity multilayer coatings for the VUV spectral
region.
The current research interests
cover optical properties of solids in the VUV spectral interval and
magneto-optical spectra of magnetic materials.
